A-list stars stole the winners' thunder as they appeared at the
Lily Awards ceremony on Saturday in Beijing.
This year was the seventh Lily Awards, which is organized by
China Central Television's movie channel (CCTV-6) to honor
outstanding contributors to the country's digital film industry, in
particular the films made for TV.
Compared to traditional films, televised ones involve low-cost,
fast production techniques. They are usually shot using digital
video cameras.
Hong Kong actor Julian Cheung Chilam was named the most popular
actor at the ceremony. His portrayal of "Lu Xiao Feng" gained
widespread popularity when it was aired on CCTV-6 earlier this
year.
Yan Ni won the most popular actress.
Most of the other names that were honored were unfamiliar to the
audience.
Despite this, the ceremony was still eye-catching, as directors
including Stanley Tong and Lu Chuan, and starlets including Zhao
Wei and Fan Bingbing, showed up one after another.
