Beijing indie rock band Car-Sick Cars will open for Sonic Youth
when the internationally-acclaimed American band plays at the
Chinese capital on April 23.
Car-Sick Cars co-founder and guitarist Shouwang Zhang wrote on
his blog the news was so exciting he could hardly believe it.
The band consider Sonic Youth one of their biggest musical
influences, according to their MySpace page.
Car-Sick Cars have actively contributed to Beijing's live music
scene since they started playing two years ago. Today, they have a
dedicated group of fans amongst the city's expat population.
Critics consider guitarist and lead vocalist Shouwang Zhang one
of the most talented young musicians in China. Last year, he was
selected to join Glenn Branca and John Mayers in New York to record
Branca's Symphony No.13 for 100 Guitars. He was only
21.
