China has the largest group of wired television viewers in the
world, with 130 million families enjoying the convenience of wired
television, nearly 200 percent of the figure in the US. However,
wired television service providers in China only net 3 percent of
the profit of their US counterparts, and only 3 percent of the
Chinese wired television viewers have digital TV receivers, while
the figure in the US is 48 percent.
It can be estimated that digital TV service will be the new
growth point for wired TV service providers. The number of digital
TV viewers in China will leap by 90 percent in each of the next
three years, according to a report by Morgan Stanley.
Two years later will be the best opportunity to invest on
digital TV service in China, when 10 percent of the viewers will
have started enjoying the service.
