Song Calls for Early Decision to Advance Six-Party Talks

Song Min-soon, South Korean top negotiator to the six-party talks, on Thursday urged all parties to weigh wins and losses and make a decision as early as possible, so as to break the impasse and promote the talks process.

Song made the remarks on Thursday afternoon at a press briefing of the fifth round of talks, which began on Wednesday. The talks aim at resolving the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and involve China, the US, North and South Korea, Russia and Japan.

He said all sides continued voicing stances on the implementation of the joint statement during the session on Thursday. The South Korean delegation proposed some necessary measures for the implementation of the joint statement, to which all sides should pay close attention as early as possible.

He also said that the South Korean delegation held bilateral consultations with the delegations of Russia, Japan, the US and North Korea respectively on Thursday afternoon, and exchanged views on relevant issues.
