Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losiukov said in Beijing Wednesday that Russia supports the six-party talks to continue.
If the talks were broken, the situation on the Korean Peninsula would become "threatening" and neighboring countries could be affected, sources quoted Losiukov as saying.
The head of Russian delegation also said Pyongyang is well aware of the situation and clear that peace is better than tension, according to the sources.
The six-party talks opened Wednesday morning in Beijing and are scheduled to wrap up on Friday morning.
