Although the seven-day-long May Day holiday is till a few days away, hotels in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, seem to have no vacant rooms left for tourists.
According to Hangzhou Tourism Commission(HTC), beginning last week, the occupancy rate of rooms at major star-rated hotels in the city has maintained at over 80 percent.
The situation is expected to continue during the holiday, HTC said, adding that it'll be difficult for tourists to check in at hotels that are located around major scenic spots in the city such as the West Lake and in downtown area during the holiday since almost all of those hotels have had their rooms booked out quite a long time before the holiday begins. Despite the high occupancy rate, Wang Guoqing, an official with HTC, said that tourists don't have to worry about their accommodation in Hangzhou during the holiday since the city has, large and small, some 2000 hotels and inns, which are capable of accommodating up to over 200,000 guests.
Wang said that a special hotline 96123 will also be opened by HTC during the May Day holiday in case tourists have difficulty in find a hotel that still has vacant rooms.
