WHO Not to Impose Travel Ban on China

The World Health Organization says it will not impose a travel ban on China, as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS reoccurrence does not constitute a threat to the country.

A WHO spokeswoman said in Geneva public health will not be threatened after the SARS research lab in Beijing, to which the two confirmed and six suspected SARS cases are all linked, has been temporarily shut down.

The spokeswoman also suggests all countries carry out rigorous safety checks in their SARS research labs.
