Tourist Arrivals in China Rise in March

China's tourist arrivals in March increased close to 9 percent over the same period last year, when China's tourism suffered from SARS.

The March arrivals were also an increase of nearly 2 percent over the same period in 2002.

Of 16 major tourism source countries, only Japan and Thailand still saw a decline in the number of tourists going to China. Eleven of the others saw double-digit growth.

Total tourism income in foreign exchange in March increased 10 percent over that in the same month last year.
