Beijing Bans Ads in Tian'anmen Square

Beijing is expected to continue a ban on advertising at Tian'anmen Square and areas along Chang'an Avenue, but will not make pan handling at subway stations illegal.

The municipal government says the ban will become official as it has been written into a draft legislation, which called for public submissions in October last year.

Beijing began to remove advertising in the area and forbade vehicles with ads from passing in 1999.

Meanwhile, it is also revealed that Beijing is not expected to ban begging at subway stations and on trains.

Tian'anmen Square, the biggest square in the world, holds a special place in contemporary Chinese history, as it witnessed the founding of the country and many important political events. Chang'an Avenue passes the square.
