Starting this month, Shanghai Baoshan Prison will open to local visitors on the last Thursday every month, prison officials announced.

This is the first time a local prison has opened up to the public.

Local people will be shown around the prison's office building, meeting room, a supermarket for inmates and some of the inmate's cells.
