China's Ministry of Agriculture has announced the ending of quarantine in the last two bird flu-hit areas, thus calling an end to the 49-day campaign against the deadly H5N1 strain of avian influenza.
The ministry confirms the lifting of quarantine in Nanning of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Lhasa of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
China has now stamped out all the 49 bird flu cases since the first one was confirmed in Guangxi's Long'an County in late January.
