New Air Route to Link East China City with Singapore

Travelers between Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, and Singapore will have more choice when Singapore Airlines begins regular flights between the two cities from March 28.

The airline will operate Boeing 777-200 or Boeing 777-300 aircraft on the route on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, said sources with Nanjing's Lukou International Airport.

Flights will depart Singapore airport at 1:20 a.m. and land at Nanjing airport at 6:25 a.m.. They will depart Nanjing at 8:40 a.m. and arrive at Singapore at 1:50 p.m. the same day.

Lukou airport is a major cargo airport in east China, handling 1 million tons of cargo and 4,000 passengers annually.

The airport, which opened in 1997, operates 78 domestic and international air routes.

It is understood that a Jiangsu subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines will launch regular flights between Nanjing and Tokyo, Singapore and Thailand soon.
