Beijing will hold a series of cultural activities during the upcoming spring festival -- the traditional Chinese New Year. 

A Beijing culture official says all the major theaters, cinemas and parks will used for cultural events including art exhibitions, traditional temple fairs, flower shows and lantern fairs as well as movies.

The official hopes these activities can fulfill the needs of the capital's citizens during the holiday.

Beijing will also welcome famous art troupes from Russia, Britain, Ireland and other countries.
