Airport to Open 2nd Terminal

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport's Terminal B will be back in operation on Jan. 15.

A source at the Shenzhen Airport (Group) Company said the refurbishing of the terminal, which was closed Feb. 15, 2003, would soon be completed.

"The opening (of the terminal) will help a lot the Chinese New Year traffic," the source said.

There will be 46 ticket counters in Terminal B, while Terminal A has 44.

All the international flights would depart from Terminal B, the source said.

The second day of the reopening of Terminal B will see Shenzhen-Singapore maiden flights by Singapore Airlines.

Terminal B was originally the airport's only terminal. It was completed in October 1991 and put into operation the following year. Its overhaul, which cost 670 million yuan (US$81 million), started shortly after the Terminal A began operation.
