After a year of elaborate preparation, an art design exhibition has opened to the public. A prelude to the 2003 Shanghai Fine Arts Exhibition, it takes 'home decoration' as its theme, and is showcasing designs full of stylish and daring innovations. 

Chosen from over 200 submissions, the 76 works all have their roots in Chinese culture. In the exhibits, the artists make the most of their talents to reconstruct common elements of life into a truly artistic world.

The exhibition will run through January 4 at the Shanghai Art Museum
