The Pudong International Airport will own China's largest closed customs-supervised storage area soon, Shanghai Customs said Wednesday.
Covering 1.04 million square meters in the Pudong International Airport, the construction of the extended storage area will pass a quality check this month.
With a total investment of 1.9 billion yuan (US$229 million), the storage area will realize computerized supervision to facilitate imports and exports.
The airport's customs officials supervised 686,000 tons of imports and exports in the first seven months of this year, keeping an average growth rate at 25 percent year-on-year.
