Full operation resumed on the Beijing-Shanghai railway line, one of China's major rail arteries, Wednesday morning when a freight train successfully passed the Chuzhou-Wuyi section in east China's Anhui Province.
Chuzhou City, which falls under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, was hit by torrential rains on late July 4 and some parts of the section from Chuzhou to Wuyi on the Beijing-Shanghai line were either flooded or caved in.
The operation from the south to the north on the trunk railway line was suspended late July 5, but resumed early the next day with a speed limit imposed.
A total of 2,500 railway workers, along with a large number of materials, were sent to help repair the damaged railway sections, said sources from the departments for railway administration.
