Tibet Museum opens to visitors free of charge in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region May 18, on the occasion of the International Museums Day.
Built in October, 1999 and with a area of 53,959 square metres, the museum stores abundant historical and cultural relics, Buddhism figures, ancient books and records of Tibetan, and folk handicrafts.
The museum has become an education base of patriotism as well as a significant tourist sight in Tibet.
