All passengers passing through airports in Shanghai will be required to fill out a health declaration form and have their temperature taken before boarding their flights as part of new measures to prevent the spread of SARS.
Shanghai airports had previously required only international passengers undergo the procedures, but on Tuesday domestic passengers were asked to follow suit.
Passengers said that they were concerned, but agreed the measures were a responsible reaction and cooperated fully.
There are two major airports in Shanghai, Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport, with 30,000 passengers exiting and entering every day. Both airports have been equipped with infrared temperature surveying instruments.
Airport doctor Zhang Guizhi said she had taken the temperature of nearly 1,000 passengers using the infrared equipment and had not spotted any fever-suffering passengers.
All health declaration forms would be filed in the civil aviation emergency treatment center.
