Turn to Stone
It isn't difficult to find an example of marble and stone in China, one of the major stone exporters. Anything from marble sinks, marble-framed mirrors and statues can be tracked down.

The opening of Beijing Xilian International Stone Trade Centre in the southeast part of the city makes finding what you are looking for much easier.

A market run by the China Stone Industry Association, the two-storey building showcases many types of marble and stone produced in China as well as imported types from abroad. A tag is found on each exhibit specifically explaining its origin, characteristics and possible usage.

The second floor is mainly devoted to stone decoration arts such as sculptures and carvings. Prices are relatively cheaper than those found in downtown shops as the centre aims more at a wholesale business.
