The "World Carnival" will kick off at a 35,000-square-meter square under Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Pudong District on April 25.
The mobile amusement fair, which will run through June 8, has been successfully staged in Paris, London and Hong Kong. It attracted 1.9 million visitors and earned HK$120 million (US$15.3 million) in Hong Kong last year, said Du Yongping, Pudong district official and deputy chief of the carnival's organizing committee.
The Shanghai version of the carnival will feature 40 fairground rides and 40 games, plus some 40 food, beverage and merchandising outlets.
Admission price is likely to be between 65 (US$7.83) to 70 yuan per person, said Du.
Hans Lodder of the World Carnival Co, the main organizer, said compared to fixed amusement parks the mobile "world carnival" is much more attractive.
