Find a Restaurant to Celebrate New Year in Shenzhen
Gathering different kinds of food from all over China, Shenzhen has always been a heaven for gourmets. However, it will be difficult for a Shenzhener to get a good meal on the eve of the Lunar New Year, because many restaurants have already been booked out.

One can't make do with a simple meal on that special night. But where can you find a restaurant that is good and, more importantly, available? Here are some suggestions.

If you want to enjoy a very sumptuous banquet with your family or friends, try the Chinese food dinning apartment at the Forum Hotel (Tel: 25586333).

As a five-star hotel, Forum has a very luxurious environment. Its Chinese dinning apartment provides dozens of banquets priced from 238 to 638 yuan per person.

Special dishes include roasted whole suckling pig, fried lobster with butter and cheese, deep fried seafood roll, and so on.

There are some KTV rooms and dinning hall tables remain available, but still early reservation is recommended.

You can also book a banquet at the China Harbor Hotel (Tel: 26088736). Over 20 different banquets will be provided, with the medium price being 150 yuan per person. Snowy hill bread, a pink, slightly sweet bread made of flour and coconut milk is recommended.

There are four KTV rooms remain available for the 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. sitting, but the 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. sitting is already full.

If you like seafood, try Bei Hai Yu Cun Restaurant on Zhenhua Road (Tel: 83221852), a restaurant famous for its seafood, soup and Cantonese food. It has two free KTV rooms and some free hall tables. The price is about 100 yuan per person.

If you prefer hot and spicy Sichuan food, try Ba Shu Feng at its Luohu branch (Tel: 25680388). The restaurant mainly serves dishes of Sichuan flavor. Seven different banquets will be provided on New Year’s Eve, and the prices vary between 48 to 68 yuan per person. You have to be very quick if you want to reserve a table of the restaurant, because there are only several hall tables left.

If you like Hakka food, you can go to Ke Jia Wang (Tel: 25524363), where you will find the most typical Hakka food. There are still some hall tables free, though its KTV rooms have been booked out. No minimum expenditure is set by the restaurant.

Or, if you don't want to choose a restaurant too early, you can try Xiao Fei Yang, a chain restaurant famous for its delicious lamb hotpot. Confident of its popularity, the restaurant isn't accepting any reservations for New Year's Eve. However, you may have to arrive at the restaurant before 5:00 p.m. in order to have a meal on that night, because it is extremely popular.
