Warmer Weather Expected
A cold air mass from Siberia that is blamed for recent chilly weather in Shanghai is finally moving on, which should push the mercury higher this weekend, local meteorologists predicted yesterday.

Lots of sunshine is expected today, although the high will only be 10 degrees, slightly lower than yesterday's, said Cao Xiaogang, chief meteorologist of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. Today's low will be 3 degrees.

Due to a low pressure trough that passed through the city last night, parts of Shanghai were blanketed with fog this morning.

While the fog has disappeared, cloudy weather is likely this weekend, with average temperatures hovering around 6 to 7 degrees Celsius.

While that's still a little on the frosty side for most people, its much warmer than last week when temperatures dipped as low as -4.3 degrees, the coldest the city has been in two years.

Since the Siberian cold front left the city, average daily temperatures have climbed 1.1 degrees.
