Following the success of Kenny G's performance, the local audience seems to have developed a fondness for the saxophone.
The latest example, at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, is the Andrew Young Band, consisting of sax master Andrew Young, two singers, a guitarist, a keyboard player, a drummer and a horn player.
Andrew Young, usually dubbed as the Saxophone Prince is famous as an instrumental performer and a gifted musician.
Chu Baojie, who is responsible for introducing the programme, said: "His handsome face, the elegant long hair and his famous sax music known as Soul Life are features adored by people who have seen him, and even by some who haven't. He is a sax master as renowned as Kenny G."
The band's repertoire will not only include well-known and loved Western pop numbers like "My heart will go on", "Unchained Melody" and "I will be there", but also Chinese melodious pieces like "Stand on the mountain", "Friends" and "The Wedding Sedan".
