Events
Dance Contest (Zhejiang Province)

The 2002 China International Modern Dance and Latin Dance Competition will be held in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, from December 9 to 14. The event is expected to be the largest of its kind in China.

Near 4,000 professional and amateur dancers from 21 countries and regions will participate in the event.

There will also be a "Super Star Dance Show" performed by about 100 world champions.

Performing Tour

China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe will tour the Republic of Korea to perform its acclaimed show "My Dream" at the invitation of Korea Alcaz Company between April 15 and May 5 next year. Alcaz will also sponsor the whole tour.

Established in 1987, China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe explores the development of the special art.

Bearing the dream of all disabled people, they have toured more than 30 countries and regions including the United States, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia.

The artists with visual or hearing impairment, mental or physical disabilities, pursue the perfection of art. They have turned the "mission impossible" into possible and impressed audiences with their strong will and artistic achievements.

Directed by Zhang Jigang, one of the best-known artistic directors in China, "My Dream" has been performed widely in the world. In the Republic of Korea, the show will be moved outside the theatre where the artists will sing, dance and play instruments on the squares in four or five cities, including Seoul and Pusan.

Some popular Korean artists will join the shows to promote the friendship and communication between the two countries.

Youth Orchestra

Landes Jugend Kammer Orchestra from Germany will stage a concert under the baton of Modestas Pitrenas at the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Peking University tonight.

Established in 1974, the orchestra comprising musical students between 18 and 25 years, has won wide acclaim around Europe for its youthful vitality and delicate interpretation.

The orchestra will perform the overture of Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni," Beethoven's Symphony No 7 in A major and some Chinese pieces such as "Jasmine."
