Fire fighters have put out a major forest fire, which has been burning for seven days just 20 kilometers from Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, the city's fire-control headquarters said Thursday.
Thanks to efforts of over 6,000 fire fighters, the fire has been brought under control while the front blaze has been put out by Thursday morning.
The fire scorched some 666.67 hectares of forest in Kunming's suburb area. No casualties have been reported.
The fire fighters are cutting more firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading again.
