Strong Cold Air to Bring Rain, Snow

Strong cold air will bring rain and snow to China in the coming ten days, according to the information released Thursday by China Meteorological Administration.

 

Light snow and rain will hit northwest China and north China, and cover the Yellow River and Huaihe River areas from Thursday night to Friday.

 

Light snow will fall on the northern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, eastern Gansu Province, northern Shaanxi Province and northeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with temperature dropping two to four degrees.

 

Most parts of China will be clear on the New Year's Day, but light snow will continue in most parts of northeastern China, northern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and western Tibet Autonomous Region.

 

Temperature will drop slightly in eastern Sichuan basin and northeastern China, while it will get slightly warmer in most parts in eastern China on Jan. 2 of 2006.

 

Snow will hit Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, northwestern China, northeastern China and reach along the Huaihe River on Jan. 3.

 

Strong wind will slash the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River with remarkable temperature drop on Jan. 4.

 

Rain, snow and temperature drop will continue in southern China from Jan. 5 to 7, and it will be clear in most parts of northern China.
