Shanghai Denies Rumor of Terrorist Attacks

Regarding the recently hearsay that Shanghai is facing terrorist attacks, Shanghai Municipal Government Spokesman Jiao Yang said at a regular press conference that it was absolutely a rumor.

During the press conference, some foreign media inquired about the hearsay that as the U.S. President Bush is about to visit China, Shanghai becomes a likely object of terrorist attacks.

Jiao Yang immediately denied this rumor and said that the Shanghai Municipal Government has noticed frequent terrorist attacks around the globe.

Therefore Shanghai pays full attention to security and keeps unflaggingly alert against terrorist attacks. Measures such as anti-terrorism exercises are merely ordinary routines.

Jiao also mentioned that besides persistent efforts in daily securities, the Shanghai Municipal Government also puts greater emphasis on improving security measures and upgrading level of security in view of the current global anti-terrorism situations.
