China Eastern Suspends 116 Flights Due to Typhoon

From 18:00 to 20:00 Sunday, China Eastern Airlines suspended 116 flights from Pudong and Hongqiao airports, due to the influence of typhoon Khanun.

 

Pudong airport satisfied the landing conditions around 19:30. MU582 from Vancouver arrived at 19:24 and MU586 from Los Angeles at 21:00. MU566 from Melbourne, however, was forced to land in Guangzhou.

 

An official with China Eastern Airlines said if weather permits, it will operate flight to Sydney, Paris and Bangkok tonight. The first arrival flight to Pudong airport will be at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and the first departure flight will be around 11:30 a.m.

 

Khanun, the fifteenth typhoon this year, has landed in the area about 290 kilometers away from Shanghai at 14:50 Sunday afternoon.
