An imported case of dengue fever was confirmed Thursday by the Hong Kong Department of Health and people were urged to guard against the disease.
The department said a female aged 19 developed symptoms of fever, chills and skin rash last Wednesday (Aug. 10) and now remained in stable condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The patient traveled to Philippines on Aug. 4 and returned to Hong Kong on Aug. 9.
According to the statistics from the department, there are in total 12 cases of dengue fever so far this year and all are imported.
Residents are urged to stay alert to the threat of dengue fever and help in the reduction of mosquito breeding.
