HK Airport Wins Airport of Year

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has again been named the world's best airport, according to the survey results of Skytrax, an independent aviation research institution in Britain.

This follows another accolade that HKIA has received in about three weeks' time from AETRA, an authoritative survey jointly run by the airline and airport organizations worldwide, according to a press release from the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK).

Skytrax's 2005 World Airport Awards Survey was conducted globally from June 2004 to March 2005, attracting more than 5.5 million respondents of over 90 nationalities. HKIA has been voted the world's best among 150 airports worldwide for the fifth consecutive year.

Chief Executive Officer of AAHK David Pang said he was extremely pleased with the results of the two international surveys.

"We are delighted that our service standard has received the recognition and appreciation of travelers around the world. These honors are made possible by the concerted efforts of the 50,000-strong airport community. This is an achievement that everyone in Hong Kong should take much pride in," said Pang.

Among the 50,000 people in the airport community are those working for the airlines, ground services agencies, government departments, retailers, catering and the tourism industry.

To share the honors with the people of Hong Kong, AAHK will organize celebration activities at the passenger of HKIA in June this year.
