Nearly 100 thousand domestic and overseas tourists have visited the Tibet Autonomous Region in the first quarter of this year.
Tourist numbers increased six percent year on year, bringing in about 90 million yuan, or US$11 million, in revenue.
Most overseas tourists are from the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Holland, Switzerland and Singapore.
Deputy director of the tourism bureau in Tibet, Deng Zhu says this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region and more tourists are expected to visit the region.
