British Man Takes Bicycling Global

A young British man who is touring the world on a bicycle has arrived in Qingdao of Shandong Province, the Qingdao Morning Post reports.

Alastair Humphreys began his journey in September 2001, hoping to collect donations for orphaned or abandoned children in Africa.

Last Thursday, Humphreys arrived in Qingdao, his first stop in China, from Japan, and then rode to a friend's home.

He plans to arrive in Beijing in 24 days. His next stop after China: the Middle East.
