First Taxi Station Opens in Beijing

Capital's first taxi station catering for cab drivers under Yansha flyover opened on last Sunday.

The station includes a 450-square-meter free parking area and a 12-square-meter restroom where hot water and toilets are provided for free, as well as a meal for 10 yuan (US$1.2).

Though there is a specialized parking area for waiting passengers, many drivers still parked along the curb.

The manager says they will improve the taxi dispatch operation and help cab drivers find passengers more easily.

Currently the station is open from 7am to 7pm.

The manager says eventually the station will open 24-hour service and they will establish more taxi stations around Beijing.
