Illegal 'One-day-tour' Steals Over $7 Million Annually

Beijing's tourism industry is in shadow of an illegal "One-day-tour", which worths over seven million US dollars a year.

Many tourists are being cheated by dodgy guides promising a one-day tour of Beijing.

After the customers pay they find they are brought to the wrong place.

Authorities have taken measures to capture these guides and their vehicles to restore the legal one-day-tour market.

But most travel agencies are unwilling to organize day tours because of the low profits.

The State-funded Beijing Tourism Bureau is planning to develop over 100 "One-day-tour" routes in the hope of providing professional services to tourists.
