Shanghai is considering including more roads which ban vehicles from turning left in an attempt to ease congestion, reports the Shanghai Evening Post.
Through smart planning, the traffic capacity of the city will be increased 10 per cent, it said.
An officer from the local traffic police bureau said that left turning slows down traffic flow. He said they are currently thinking of applying the no left-turn rule to more roads.
However, opposition to the scheme claims the changes make trips longer.
