Yuan Longping, China's Father of Hybrid Rice, has been awarded the Wolf Agricultural Prize for his great achievements in hybrid rice research.
The Wolf Foundation Prize, dubbed as the Israeli Nobel Prize, is awarded every year to outstanding scientists and artists in five fields.
The 74-year-old Chinese scientist Yuan Longping succeeded in hybid rice development in the 1970s.
His technology has greatly promoted rice output and contributed to the world's food provision.
So far, he has received 12 international prizes for his achievement and he will go to the United States to receive the World Food Prize this October.
