Joint Efforts Underway for Development of SARS Vaccine
University of Hong Kong, Guangzhou Medical College and Fudan University are making joint efforts to develop vaccines for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), according to a press release from the University of Hong Kong on Monday.

An activated strain of SARS coronavirus is now ready for testing as a tentative vaccine to be tested in animals, said the press release.

Researchers affirmed that it is still too early to tell whether this experimental vaccine is safe or effective in human. Human testing will not be conducted soon.

The preliminary animal test result of the activated strain of SARS coronavirus as a tentative vaccine could be available in six months, researchers said.
