Experts across the Taiwan Strait opened a biology symposium Sunday in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province.
The three-day symposium is the first of its kind jointly held by Taiwan and mainland experts, which aims to promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in chemical biology, biology technology and pharmaceuticals.
The symposium has received 52 theses in eight fields, including biological information, new medicines, micro-organisms in medicines, and biological engineering.
The symposium was sponsored by Xiamen University,Tsinghua University and Tunghai University (Taiwan) and local departments of science and technological in Xiamen.
