Premier Zhu Rongji, Vice-Premier Li Lanqing and other senior officials Monday attended a lecture on network computer technology and applications at Zhongnanhai, headquarters of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council.
Professor Huai Jinpeng, of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was invited by the State Steering Group of Science, Technology and Education to give the lecture.
Apart from the basic knowledge of the network computer, the professor talked about China's current development and prospects for the computer industry.
Following Huai's lecture, officials agreed that research and applications of computer technology were key to China's information infrastructure.
The lecture was the 19th of its kind for this administration in a bid to update officials with the latest technology and meet the requirements of the CPC Central Committee's strategy to revitalize China through science and education.
