Permanent North Pole Station Planned to Set This Year
China will build the first scientific survey station at the North Pole this year, thus turning over a leaf in Chinese history in which there sees no research station at the North Pole for China. And by so doing Chinese scientists can be stationed there all the year around, conducting in-depth research related to the Arctic Zone.

Director-general with the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) Mr. Wang Shuguang noted at the national conference of directors with oceanic departments on January 15 that, SOA highlights construction of China's first scientific survey station at the North Pole. He henceforth called for meticulous preparation and thorough deployment in order to score success.

China once built a temporary research base at the North Pole, but not a permanent one.
