China's first professional computer game players emerge in Chongqing, west China, eight people signed contracts with a game publisher for the new job on Sunday.
The publisher is Beijing-based State Research Information Technology Co Ltd. The players will get a monthly salary of 5,000 yuan (US$605) to play the games and help the company to develop new game products.
The players remain cautious about the new job in China, according to the Chongqing Evening News.
Only two of the eight players will take the job as their only job, the others will keep their current jobs.
The eight are winners of this year's national contest of China's only self-developed three-division online game "Cronous," according to the Chongqing Evening News report.
