Qilu Software College was unveiled recently in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province, as part of the country's efforts to cultivate technology experts.
The college was approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Development Planning Commission to train high-caliber computer software professionals.
Located in the Jinan New and Hi-tech Industrial Zone, the college is designed to accommodate 10,000 students with a total floor space of 350,000 square meters (86.4 acres).
A number of structures, including a teaching building capable of holding 5,000 students, a computer center and an apartment building for overseas experts, have been put in place.
Through an affiliation with Shandong University, one of the top universities in China, the college will offer on-the-job and distance training programs on computer software.
China has been attaching great significance to the training of computer-related professionals as it pushes the development of its vast human resources potential as well as its information technology sector.
