The five-day 9th China Beijing International High-tech Expo closed its curtain on May 27. 230,000 visitors from all over the world attended the expo and over 270 famous Chinese and foreign scholars, leaders of different fields and government officials held various meetings to discuss hot issues such as energy strategies, financial reforms and capital markets.
Organizer of this expo disclosed that as one of China's biggest events for displaying and exchanging scientific and technological information that is held in Beijing, this expo has become the first stage in Asia for top-notch domestic and overseas high-tech enterprises to exhibit their scientific and technical products. All foreign enterprises attending the expo exhibited the full range of their latest line of products, of which a considerable proportion was on display in the Asian market for the first time.
Multinationals such as Samsung, Panasonic, Nokia, LG and Fuji Xerox unveiled their latest products on the expo and some foreign enterprises even took this expo as their first platform for introducing their new products to the world.
Besides scientific and technological products, forums on hot issues and tough problems in China's economic and social development also drew the attention of government leaders and experts. High level management personnel from five international organizations including the EU and APEC as well as 20-odd leaders of some top 500 enterprises gathered in Beijing and made suggestions on Beijing's and even China's urban modernization, especially on developing the modern service sector.
The "Olympic market development and promotion fair" and the "Olympic service admittance promotion fair" became hot issues again during the expo. Over 500 domestic and overseas enterprises showed their interest in these areas. Officials of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games gave detailed introduction of Beijing Olympics' supplier plan, franchise commodity plan and operation mode as well as hotel, catering and audience service standards and qualification for admittance to both domestic and overseas enterprises.
