Most parts of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) have been installed in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, according to the photos released by Xinhua News Agency on February 4.
The EAST, the magnetic plasma confinement system designed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is in a test phase of vacuumizing and lowering temperatures.
Aimed at exploring infinite and clean energy resources of nuclear fusion, the EAST is expected to be completed by March or April.
When complete, Hefei will be home to the first all-superconducting, non-circular section nuclear fusion experimental facility in the world, generally known as an artificial sun.
