Nowadays, Shanghai's optoelectronics industry is rising rapidly. The 720,000th fifth-generation TFT-LCD of Shanghai SVA-NEC Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd. came off the production line.

Today, the company revealed that as it has achieved a monthly production capacity of 740,000 LCDs, its 15-inch LCD production capacity at a single production line has jumped to No. 1 in the world and takes up a 40 percent global market share.

Optoelectronics industry is one of Shanghai's pillar industries for key development during the period of "eleventh five-year plan." After introduction of the fifth-generation TFT-LCD production line, Shanghai SVA-NEC Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd., the mainland's first TFT-LCD producer, suffered from four problems such as broken connection, crosstalk, uneven brightness and light leakage in LCD production due to unstable equipment and incomplete technical indices.

Scientific staff finally resolved a series of tricky problems through arduous efforts and innovation. At present, the company's qualification rate of good products has been enhanced to the internationally advanced level of 90 percent. At present, the company has completed its preparation for production expansion and its monthly production capacity is expected to reach 1.4 million LCDs next year.

At the same time, the company's scale and production capacity has attracted global upper stream and downstream enterprises of the industry. "Shanghai Optoelectronics Industry Base" led by the company is being planned. Projects of the base will consume more than US$6 billion of investment, and their annual revenue will exceed US$10 billion.
