Alcatel Shanghai Bell and China's Datang Mobile jointly announced Friday that they have completed the industrialization of TD-SCDMA, China's homegrown technology standard for the third generation mobile communication (3G).
The two companies are ready to deliver TD-SCDMA products to China's 3G market, they said in a press release made available to Xinhua.
"This is the most significant milestone up to date in achievingfull commercial deployment of TD-SCDMA since the two companies signed a partnership agreement to develop TD-SCDMA in November 2004," said the press release.
Through its partnership with Datang mobile, Alcatel Shanghai Bell is now ready to provide an end-to-end TD-SCDMA solution, including core, access, application platform and terminals, said the release.
The successful cooperation between Alcatel Shanghai Bell and Datang Mobile on industrialization will advance the progress of TD-SCDMA in China, said Tang Ru'an, president of Datang Mobile, adding that as a pioneer of TD-SCDMA technology, Datang Mobile will keep its commitment to bring a commercialized TD-SCDMA solution to the industry.
President of Alcatel Shanghai Bell Gerard Dega said: "Through a close partnership with Datang Mobile, we are well positioned to support our customers in China's 3G market regardless of the standard they decide to adopt."
TD-SCDMA, mainly developed by Datang Mobile, is one the three international standards for 3G, with the other two being WCDMA from Europe and CDMA2000 of the United States.
Launching of China's 3G market partly depends on the maturity of TD-SCDMA.
