E-game Industry Soars in China

China's gaming software has accounted for more than half of the market while two years ago independently developed products represented less than 20 percent.

The news came from an official with the General Administration of Press and Publication at the press conference for the Third China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (Chinajoy), held on June 21 in Shanghai.

According to sources the competent departments are planning a series of policies to encourage more domestic companies to carry out independent development. At the same time joint development of games adapted to the Chinese market and in accordance with Chinese cultural and value system also became a spontaneous choice of many overseas e-game companies.

The 3rd Chinajoy sponsored by the General Administration of Press and Publication, National Copyright Administration and the Ministry of Science and Technology is the world' third largest e-game expo second only to the US E3 and Tokyo Game Show. It will be held from July 21 to 23 in Shanghai.
