China's first biological anti-AIDS agent with independent intellectual property rights was successfully developed in Shenyang, captial of northeast China's Liaoning Province and clinical testing on human will soon be launched. According to the research institute, this new agent is more effective but less costly with fewer side-effects compared to similar foreign drugs.
At the meeting of new biological drugs for AIDS held by the Shenyang Association for Science and Technology, Shenyang Xiehe Group introduced its new biological drug after ten years of research. Chen Juyu, president of Xiehe Group, said that HIV infected human's immunological system. Thus, the new drug provides super antigen which will stimulate T cells in human bodies and improve immunity. Compared with the common treatment by using chemicals to kill HIV, the new drug is more effective and has reached the world's elite level.
After testing on 58 AIDS patients in Beijing 301 Hospital and Beijing Youan Hospital (the national treatment center for AIDS), the drug is proved effective in improving two important cell ratios of immunological system. It is unable to cure AIDS; however, it can prolong patient's life by suspending HIV carriers' pathogenesis and improving their clinical symptoms.
