Chinese top SARS expert has warned that the epidemic could cause new infections in southern China's winter but will not spread in large scale.
Doctor Zhong Nanshan made the comment on Friday, concerning the recent national call for advance prevention measures against SARS and bird flu.
But Zhong said due to the correct policy to curb the circulation of wild animals in the region, the prevention of SARS had achieved great progress.
He suggested an early reporting and treatment system and vaccination of flu are helpful to combat SARS as well as the more deadly bird flu.
Due to his extraordinary contribution to the SARS treatment, Doctor Zhong is awarded "The Outstanding Honor Prize for Guangzhou Medical School" on the same day.
